Why Join / What You Get
By becoming a ROAM member, you're directly supporting my
work—helping bring more of it into the world—and for that, I'm deeply grateful. To recognize this support,
I created
Folio Editions, a series of mini photo books highlighting my ongoing
projects. These serve both as a reward for supporters and as
motivation for me to stay focused and prolific. Yearly members
receive physical copies by mail, while monthly members receive
digital editions shortly after release. My aim is to produce
several editions each year.
- Digital access to Folio Editions.
- Members-only Insider Newsletter.
- Full-access to members-only website.
- Wallpaper photos from my long walks.
- Digital copy of my first indie book — Catch-32.
- All monthly perks.
- Physical Folio Editions shipped worldwide.
- 50% discount for previous Folio Editions.
- 10% discount on Jinny Street Gallery store.
- Exclusive discounts on all future books.
Ultimately, the core mission of this program is to grant me the
freedom to spend more time in the field,
creating photographic work that eventually becomes
book-shaped objects—my vision of a complete photographic project. I'm truly
grateful to everyone who supports me in making this possible.
Folio Editions
All yearly members receive a physical mini-book, which I call
Folio Editions, featuring projects I'm
currently working on. These may be complete long-form projects
or works in progress each edition marking a milestone.
Sometimes, they're smaller projects I'm curious about in the
moment, and a mini-book format is the perfect way to share them.
Folio Editions are printed here, in Japan, and shipped from my
Tokyo studio worldwide—wherever airmail delivery of printed
matter is available—at no extra cost to yearly members. Yearly
members also receive a 50% discount on any Folio Editions
produced before they joined.
Monthly members receive a digital version of Folio Editions week
after they are dispatched to yearly members.
Questions You Might Have
I've never heard of you. Where should I start?
Check out
ttvl.co for
notes and resources on creativity and craft. If photography is
more your thing, head to
toto.photo.
If you're curious about my technical workflow, visit the
darkroom section
of my website; I share quite a bit about general photography
there.
If you're into productivity, thinking tools and creation
tools, take a look at my hybrid notebook system,
Unbound, which combines analog and digital tools, creating what I
believe is the most open and flexible thinking tool out there.
For a broader view of my projects,
The Flâneur Newsletter
is free and an easy way to get a sample of my work.
Does ROAM stand for something? Why all-caps?
Yes, it's an acronym—or rather, a "backronym." It stands for
Research of Artbook Membership, which reflects the
experimental nature of this membership program. I also just
like the word "Roam."
Roam Press is an indie book design and fine art
bookbinding venture I started alongside the membership
program. All
Folio Editions
and books I create—whether for myself or for others—are marked
with the Roam Press wordmark starting 2025.
Who handles payments?
Memberships are managed through
Memberful and
Stripe—both secure and widely
trusted services. I never see your payment details. You can
cancel anytime with just a couple of clicks.
I'm a student and short on funds. Any options?
There's no dedicated "student tier," but if you email me at
[email protected] with a few
words about yourself, I'll grant you a free yearly membership
(minus the physical Folio Editions). I don't want cost to
prevent anyone genuinely interested in my work from
participating.
Will your content go behind a paywall?
No.
ttvl.co will
remain my public-facing notebook, where I share my curiosities
and ongoing projects.
I'm signing up for a yearly membership and being asked for my
mailing address. Why?
Yearly members receive a physical—real, tangible, made of
paper and ink—copy of the
Folio Edition.
If you'd prefer not to receive printed copies of Folio
Editions, you can switch to a monthly subscription, which
doesn't require any additional information.
I will never sell your address to a data broker.
I'm considering a yearly membership but live in [X country].
Will I still receive Folio Editions?
Folio Editions
are mailed from my studio in Tokyo, using Japan Post airmail
service, which delivers to most countries worldwide. However,
there are some restrictions due to various global conflicts.
Please consult the
Japan Post website
to confirm whether your country can receive mail from Japan.
What's the Jinny Street Gallery mentioned in the yearly
membership perks?
Jinny Street Gallery
is an outdoor street gallery I co-run in the Jingumae 2-chome
district in Harajuku, focusing on emerging artists. All yearly
members get a 10% discount at the
Gallery Store—whether you're buying merchandise or artwork by our artists.
